A lifter holding a protein shaker with one hand on their stomach — high protein shouldn't feel heavy

01 — Digestion

High protein shouldn't feel heavy.

You already do the hard part. You train, you hit your protein number, you drink the shake. And then it sits there — the heavy stomach, the bloat, the gas an hour later, the "I can't eat for the rest of the afternoon" feeling.

That isn't a protein problem. It's a dose problem. Your gut can only move protein through at a set rate — whey at roughly 8–10 g per hour, casein at about 6 (Bilsborough & Mann, 2006). A 40 g shake on top of a meal means hours of protein sitting in your stomach and small intestine, fermenting on the way down.

Switching to isolate helps a little. Smaller shakes help a little. Neither fixes it. SCOOP+ was built for this exact meal: enzymes and ginger to move it along, a slow-fermenting fiber that doesn't add gas of its own, and a probiotic shown to pull more amino acids out of the protein you already paid for.

Same shake. Add one scoop. Watch the difference by the second week.

02 — The formula

Four jobs. One scoop. Nothing you can taste.

A protein shake asks a lot of your gut and gives nothing back to your muscles beyond the protein itself. SCOOP+ fills both gaps.

This isn't a proprietary blend. Every ingredient is listed at its full dose, and every dose matches what the published trials used.

What each ingredient is shown to do:

  • Creatine monohydrate (5 g) — saturates muscle stores in 3–4 weeks; +8% strength, +14% reps with training across 22 studies
  • PHGG fiber (5 g) — Monash-certified low-FODMAP; improved bloating, gas and regularity in randomized trials, without the gas inulin and psyllium cause
  • DigeZyme® (250 mg) — five digestive enzymes including protease; proteolytic enzymes raised blood amino-acid levels after whey in a published trial
  • Ginger root extract (250 mg) — halved gastric half-emptying time in healthy adults (Wu et al., 2008)
  • B. coagulans GBI-30, 6086 (1B CFU) — 23% higher leucine absorption with protein; survives stomach acid to reach the small intestine

Put together, that is a shake that leaves your stomach faster, ferments less on the way down, delivers more of its amino acids — and finally includes the creatine you were meant to be taking anyway.

Clinical research

The numbers behind every scoop

Every ingredient in SCOOP+ is dosed to what the published trials used. Here is what those trials found.

  • +8% / +14%

more strength and more reps with creatine + training vs training alone, across 22 studies

Rawson & Volek, J Strength Cond Res, 2003
  • +23%

higher leucine absorption when protein was taken with Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086 — the probiotic in SCOOP+

    Jäger et al., PeerJ, 2016
  • 500+

peer-reviewed studies on creatine monohydrate — the most researched performance supplement in the world

International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand, 2017
  • +1.37 kg

more lean mass with creatine vs placebo in adults over 50, across 22 trials and 721 people

Chilibeck et al., Open Access J Sports Med, 2017

Figures are from peer-reviewed research on the individual ingredients at the doses used in SCOOP+ (5 g creatine monohydrate; 1 billion CFU B. coagulans GBI-30, 6086). Individual results vary.

03 — Why SCOOP+

It's not a creatine. It's what your creatine was missing.

Plain creatine does one job. Enzyme capsules do one job. Fiber powders do one job — and most of them bloat you doing it. SCOOP+ is the first scoop built around the meal gym-goers actually eat every day: the protein shake.

Here is what makes SCOOP+ different from anything else on your shelf:

Clinically dosed, fully disclosed:

  • Creatine Monohydrate (5,000 mg) — the exact daily dose used in the research. Not 3 g. Not a "blend".
  • PHGG (5,000 mg) — the only fiber we'd put in a shake: low-FODMAP, slow-fermenting, dissolves clear and thin. No grit, no gel, no gas.
  • DigeZyme® (250 mg) — a branded five-enzyme complex with protease for protein, lactase for whey, lipase and amylase for everything else in the shake.
  • Ginger Root Extract (250 mg, 5% gingerols) — the ingredient that moves a heavy shake out of your stomach.
  • Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086 (1 billion CFU) — the spore-form probiotic with published amino-acid-absorption trials, not a generic strain that dies in stomach acid.

What you'll notice:

  • A shake that sits light instead of heavy — no 2 p.m. protein bloat
  • Less gas on high-protein days
  • The strength, rep and recovery gains creatine is famous for — without buying a second tub
  • More regular, without a fiber supplement that tastes like a fiber supplement
  • Over 40? Protein needs per meal rise, digestion slows and creatine's strength and memory benefits are largest — SCOOP+ covers all three

One tub replaces a creatine tub, a fiber tub and a bottle of enzyme capsules — and goes into the shake you already drink. That is why we call it the other half of your shake.

What to expect after adding SCOOP+

Digestion changes fast. Creatine changes on a schedule. Here is the honest timeline.

  1. Day 1

Your shake tastes exactly the same. SCOOP+ dissolves clear with no grit and no flavor. The enzymes and ginger go to work on this first shake.

  2. Days 3–7

The shake sits lighter. Most people notice the heavy, full feeling after a big shake is shorter and milder, and high-protein days produce less gas.

  3. Weeks 2–3

Regularity settles in as 5 g of PHGG becomes daily. Muscle creatine stores are filling — you may notice an extra rep or two at the end of sets.

  4. Week 4

Creatine stores are saturated (5 g a day reaches full saturation in 3–4 weeks). This is when the strength and rep gains in the research show up. Your first tub is finished; your subscription tub has arrived.

  5. Weeks 8–12

Measurable change. Across 22 studies, creatine with training produced about 8% more strength and 14% more reps than training alone. The bloat-free shake is now just how your shake is.

  6. Every month after

Creatine only works while stores stay full, and the digestion support only works on the shake you take it with. One scoop, every day, in every shake. That is the whole routine.

04 — The science

Three things the research made clear

And why we built SCOOP+ the way we did.

Two identical protein shakes side by side, one with a SCOOP+ scoop beside it

The protein myth

Isolate still bloats you? It might not be the protein.

8–10 g / hour

Whey leaves the stomach and is absorbed at roughly 8–10 g per hour; casein at about 6. A 40 g shake is a 4–6 hour job for your gut no matter which tub it came from. Lactose-free isolate removes one trigger and leaves the real one: volume. Enzymes, ginger and a slow fiber change how that volume moves — that is the part a different protein can't fix.

Bilsborough & Mann, Int J Sport Nutr Exerc Metab, 2006

The missing half

Most shake drinkers still aren't taking creatine. They should be.

500+ studies

Creatine monohydrate is the most researched supplement in sport: 500+ peer-reviewed studies, about 8% more strength and 14% more reps with training, and the ISSN calls it the most effective ergogenic supplement available. The reason most people skip it is a second tub, a second scoop and a second habit. SCOOP+ puts the full 5 g into the scoop you already take.

Over 40?

The older you are, the more every scoop does.

+67% protein per meal

After 40 the per-meal protein needed to maximize muscle building rises from about 0.24 to 0.40 g per kg (Moore et al., 2015) — bigger shakes, more often — while stomach acid and digestive enzyme output decline. At the same time creatine's benefits are largest in older adults: +1.37 kg lean mass across 22 trials in people over 50, and the biggest memory improvement in a 2023 meta-analysis was in adults 66–76. SCOOP+ handles the bigger shake and supplies the creatine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need my creatine tub?

No. Every scoop of SCOOP+ contains 5,000 mg of creatine monohydrate — the full daily dose used in the research and the same amount as a standard creatine scoop. Taking SCOOP+ and a separate creatine would put you at 10 g a day, which is more than you need. Finish your creatine tub if you like, then switch.

Will it change the taste or texture of my shake?

No. SCOOP+ is unflavored and unsweetened, and PHGG is the thinnest-mixing fiber available — it dissolves clear with no grit, no gel and no thickening. Creatine monohydrate has no taste. Your chocolate shake tastes like your chocolate shake.

Can I take it without a protein shake?

Yes. The creatine and fiber work regardless of what you mix it in — water, coffee, juice, oats or yogurt. The enzymes, ginger and probiotic do their best work alongside a protein meal, so if you skip the shake one day, take SCOOP+ with your biggest protein meal instead.

Is 5 g of fiber going to make the bloating worse?

That's exactly why we chose PHGG and not inulin, psyllium or chicory. PHGG (partially hydrolyzed guar gum) ferments slowly along the whole colon rather than all at once, is certified low-FODMAP by Monash University, and in randomized trials improved bloating, gas and regularity. If you currently eat very little fiber, start with half a scoop for the first 3–4 days.

Do I need to load or cycle the creatine?

No. 5 g a day saturates muscle creatine stores in 3–4 weeks and keeps them there. No loading week, no cycling off. Take it every day, training or not — timing doesn't matter, consistency does.

Is it safe? Are there side effects?

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most studied supplements in existence; the ISSN position stand calls it safe and well tolerated in healthy adults from young to elderly with no harmful effect on kidney function at recommended doses. PHGG, DigeZyme®, ginger and B. coagulans GBI-30 are all Generally Recognized As Safe. Stick to 1 scoop a day (2 at most). If you have kidney disease, are pregnant or nursing, or take prescription medication, check with your doctor first.

What if I take more than two scoops in a day?

Nothing dangerous at the doses involved, but above about 10 g of creatine or 10 g of fiber in one go, some people get loose stools or stomach cramps — the opposite of what you're after. One scoop per day is the dose. There is no benefit to more.

Is it vegan, gluten-free, third-party tested?

Yes to all three. SCOOP+ contains no animal ingredients, no gluten, no added sugar, no sweeteners, no colors and no flavors. Every batch is tested by an independent lab for identity, potency, heavy metals and microbes, and made in a cGMP-certified facility in the USA.

I'm over 50. Is this for me?

Especially for you. After 40, the protein per meal needed to maximize muscle building rises from about 0.24 to 0.40 g per kg of body weight (Moore et al., 2015), while stomach acid and digestive enzyme output decline — so shakes get bigger and harder to digest at the same time. Creatine's benefits are also largest in older adults: more lean mass (+1.37 kg vs placebo across 22 trials in people over 50) and the biggest memory improvement in a 2023 meta-analysis was in adults 66–76. One scoop covers the digestion and the creatine.

How do subscriptions work?

Pick Subscribe & Save at checkout and you pay 20% less — $47.95 instead of $59.95 for one tub. A new tub ships every 4 weeks, which is exactly how long 28 scoops last. Skip a delivery, change your bundle, pause or cancel anytime from your account page. No minimum commitment.

How much is shipping, and how fast?

Shipping is free on every order in the United States. Orders ship within 1–3 business days and typically arrive 3–7 business days after that. You'll get a tracking link by email the moment it ships.

What if it doesn't work for me?

You have 30 days from delivery. Use the whole tub. If your shake doesn't sit better and you don't feel the creatine, email support@scoopplus.store and we refund you — empty tub included. Full details in our refund policy.
